Race Harborough are delighted to announce the launch of the 2027 Snap Fitness Market Harborough Half Marathon, due to take place on Sunday, 16th May 2027, a race that welcomed almost 1,000 runners in its inaugural year.
The event looks to build on its success to date and, once again, provide a quality, affordable, friendly, and inclusive event that brings together participants from across the region and from further afield, with 1,500 runners anticipated to line up in next year’s renewal.
With a slightly amended route this year, the race will start and finish close to Welland Park, winding its way through the stunning countryside surrounding the town, with the Event Village located within Welland Park itself.
Last year’s event enjoyed excellent support through all of the villages it passed by or through, and the organisers are looking to build on this support again to deliver a vibrant atmosphere for runners and spectators alike.
As in 2026, the event will look to partner with three official local charities, encouraging participants to fundraise and raise awareness for local causes. All participants will also have the option to donate to the Jubilee Food Bank (Market Harborough) at entry.
Cllr Amanda Nunn, Harborough District Council Cabinet Lead for Wellbeing said: “Harborough District Council is delighted to support the return of the Market Harborough Half Marathon in 2027. The event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our district, bring people together and encourage participation in health and fitness.
“Following the success of the inaugural event, we look forward to welcoming runners, spectators, and visitors back to Market Harborough and the surrounding villages. Events like this make a valuable contribution to the local economy, while also creating a strong sense of community and providing great opportunities for local charities, businesses, and volunteers to get involved.
“We wish Race Harborough every success with the 2027 event and look forward to seeing Market Harborough buzzing with the energy and excitement of runners, supporters and spectators once again.”
Mary Pearson, owner of Race Harborough, said: ”We are really excited to be launching the second running of this event after such a fantastic day last year, and delighted to have the support of Harborough District Council to help us grow the event.
“Bringing the event into the town will create benefits for local businesses such as restaurants, coffee shops, and bars, and we are focused on creating minimal impact for local residents married with our desire to create a landmark event for the town, celebrating both fitness and community spirit. By bringing together runners, volunteers, supporters, local businesses and charities, we hope to create a positive, lasting impact on the local economy, health, and culture.
“Entries for the race open at 9:00am this Friday (2nd October)!”
