As well having a real passion for community events, Race Harborough has always been about giving back to the local community in terms of charitable support. This support has seen over £150,000 donated to local charities and good causes since 2014.

For 2023 we are delighted to announce that we have chosen to support two foodbanks, one in Market Harborough and one in Northampton, who will benefit from fundraising around the majority of our events.

The Jubilee Foodbank, Market Harborough, are on a mission to end hunger across the Market Harborough district. Launched in 2012 when they received just a few food parcels each month, they now receive over 100 referrals from individuals and families each month.

The Weston Favell Centre Foodbank, Northampton, a collaborative project between Emmanuel Group of Churches, St Peter’s Weston Favell, and Storehouse Church, also opened in 2012. They provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Mary Pearson, owner of Race Harborough, said: “In these challenging times foodbanks are under extreme pressure to meet the demands of their communities. As the cost of living continues to rise foodbanks are working tirelessly to help those in need.

“Everyone who enters a Race Harborough event in 2023 will be given the opportunity to make a donation to support these good causes and, we hope, our event community will rise to the challenge once more and help to make a difference to those that need it most.”
